The problem it actually solves
Reading a long passphrase aloud fails. So does handwriting it. A proper Wi‑Fi QR lets phones offer “Join network” after one scan.

Do this before you print a stack
Match the router’s SSID exactly (case matters). Pick the right encryption — home and office are usually WPA/WPA2. Scan with a second phone before you print. Don’t put the code on a livestream where strangers can screenshot it.
For visitors, a separate guest SSID password (Password Generator helps) is safer than handing out the main network.
Security, briefly
The password sits in plaintext inside the WIFI: payload. Anyone who sees the code can join. After an event, rotate the password and toss old printouts.
A generic QR app can encode the same string. A dedicated form just makes it harder to forget a semicolon and wonder why nothing connects.
